Notes
199 p. Paige Owens and Curtis Okafor, who only share in common the first letter of their surnames, are forced together during a school trip to Wickworth Manor, the local stately home. The mystery begins when Curtis finds a portrait in his bedroom of a young black servant dressed in livery and then Paige finds an intriguing letter, written over 200 years ago by Miss Verity Burton, who used to live at the Manor, that mentions the portrait. Swept up in a rollercoaster adventure, Paige and Curtis, in their very different ways, start work to find out what happened all those years ago and in the process form an unlikely friendship. Is the boy in the painting really the Wickworth Boy or is the truth even more surprising?
